the oktomat came in the mail today!
it's so cute... with all of those little eyes... sort of like some sort of alien-brick-spider-thing.
I can't wait to actually use it.

things that have been wonderful lately...
+ my internship with Angelica Kitchen! I have the nicest boss, Amy, and she is an amazing
chef. last week we made some sort of apple pastry, and this week we made carob mint
cream pie and maple tofu whip. it's hard work, and I have to get up at 4:30 to get
there, but it is worth it. right before the guests arrive, the wait staff and chefs sit
down and we sample all of the day's specials (two entrees, salad, soup, two desserts,
cookie, muffin.) I always leave feeling unbelievably happy (and full.... mmmmmm)
+ the weather. I've been taking as many walks as humanly possible/ sitting on my roof/
stealing my neighbors' flowers/ lying around doing nothing in the front lawn/ everything
else I can think of to make up for all of those cold days spent under seven hundred
layers of sweaters.
+ new music. particularly joanna newsoms' new ep (here is a clip of her new song
'colleen'- you should listen even if you didn't like her older work because it's quite
a departure), and the books' 'lost and safe'. I'll be seeing the books on monday,
and it's been forever since I went to a concert. I'm psyched.
+ green hair!

I'm dyeing my hair green next, despite having eveyone tell me that it'll
look gross. first of all, it's my head. if it's too bad, I can always
soapcap it. and I like the idea of it being green; it reminds me of
spring. I'm tired of this winter that won't go away. I'm glad it rained
today, rather than snowing again...
I'm so glad that I never have to attend a full day of classes ever again.
how liberating.

things I do to stop being so stressed-out:
-draw naked people without arms or heads, in noxious colors
-eat lots of chocolate
-bite my fingernails
-lie across my bed and tear pages out of magazines
-sew up the holes in my stockings
-pull my hair out
-open and close drawers
-try to write poetry, end up with pages of lines that don't quite fit together
-make mix tapes
in other news, seven out of nine of the holes on my ears have retired themselves.
now my lobes are an unloveable mess of scar tissue. ewwwwww.
ps- the decemberists covering joanna newsom's bridges and balloons is beautiful. |
